Returns & Refunds
Online shopping can be convenient, yet returning purchases can often be time-consuming and costly. Happy Returns recognizes this issue and has set out on a mission to make returns “beautiful for shoppers, retailers, and the planet.” They aim to reduce packaging waste while decreasing carbon emissions and making shipping costs cheaper through their nationwide network of return bars.
At present, this company works with over 250 apparel, accessory, and footwear brands, such as Everlane, Tradesy, Rothy’s, and Steve Madden. Established by CEO David Sobie and CTO Aaron Geller and receiving early-stage funding from investors such as Upfront Ventures, Brilliant Ventures, and Lowercase Capital, its inaugural return bar was unveiled in Los Angeles in 2016.
Sobie explained that their partnership with Staples allows the company to reach 75% of Americans living within 10 miles of an outlet location due to their retail footprint, large number of areas, and outstanding reputation as a shipping center.
Customers can drop off returns at one of 40 Happy Returns locations nationwide. All they need to bring with them is the item and their email address/original payment method information, and their refund will be initiated instantly. In the future, Happy Returns plans on expanding its network by including Staples locations as well as malls that haven’t been as affected by retail’s current difficulties.
